As we go through these turbulent times of pandemic and political turmoil, I have noticed an increased level of statements from people wishing harm on others. I find this very disturbing. While I may abhor and feel disgust about some political statements and decisions being made, I would not wish harm on anyone. I certainly would encourage people to speak up about inappropriate decisions and language from leaders. But even more importantly, I think we need to pray for those people and for the healing of our nation.
Pray for the restoration of unity; pray for healing and relief from the pandemic; for those who are suffering; and for the return of conversation instead of personal attacks. Pray for light to illuminate the truth and for Christ’s calming presence and peace to guide the path ahead. Christ spent a lot of time praying, both by himself and with his disciples. Prayer can bring about powerful transformation in the world as well as in our lives. Christ encouraged his disciples to pray. I think that is as true now as it was with the original disciples.
