In July, after months of work, the Settled Pastor Search Committee submitted the church’s profile, or position listing, to the UCC and the DOC. This profile was accepted by each Conference at the very end of July.
During August and early September, we received ten enquiries (also called profiles) for the position of Settled Pastor. Six of these came from the UCC and four from the DOC. In mid-September, we began reviewing the ten candidates and discussing our process.
Just as we had settled for five potential candidates for interviews, the UCC sent us two additional profiles! And at the same time, we heard from the DOC that they would be sending us one more as well. This meant we narrowed our candidates from ten to five, then had it expand back to eight.
On September 26, the committee met again, and after reviewing seven of those eight candidates we have narrowed our selection to just four. We are still waiting to receive the eighth profile from the DOC and will give that our full attention when it is received.
We are planning on moving into the next phase of our process, which is a series of interviews, in the coming weeks.
