My goodness how time flies. Rev Donna pointed out to me that she has been with us for over a year now. It just doesn’t seem possible. Then when I think about the work that has been done and what has been accomplished in the past year, it seems equally impossible that it hasn’t been longer. Maybe thats what Einstein was alluding to when he posited that as velocity approaches the speed of light time slows down. (I just got a chuckle thinking about how Horace Coburn would respond to my poor attempt a physics humor). The Settled Pastor search committee is forming and getting ready to jump out of the gate. Dr. Rev Bill Lyons and Dr. Rev Kim Fields-Haley are both coming the weekend of 4/13 to meet with the committee and help them organize and prepare for the task ahead of them.
Spring Cleaning was a HUGE success. Though we didn’t get to all the areas, the ones we did get to are sparkling clean. I took a trailer full of trash to the dump and a car load of gently used toys and stuffed animals to Tutti Bambini while Dave Wofford took a 20 foot trailer of gently used “treasures” to Habitat Restore. Meanwhile, Steve Blinks spent the morning pulling weeds and several members cleaned the cupboards and drawers in the kitchen. Thank you to everyone that joined in on the fun. We will continue our “spring cleaning” on May 25th.
Some other pleasant surprises are in the offing. The Board just approved bids and selected colors to paint some of the exterior and all of the sanctuary. This is is a major undertaking that will significantly impact the look and feel of the campus. Both of these projects are only possible due to the generosity of the membership. Thank you, thank you, thank your for your support of First Christian Church. This is a vital center of affirming activity in our community!
